When you talk to yourself, and you do, are you kind? give grace or are you your worst critic, enemy and everything else you wouldn’t want in life?
Did you know that, according to the National Science Foundation, 80% of our thoughts are negative and 95% of our thoughts are repetitive. Don’t believe me..google it.. I’ll wait. So, why is that...Do we dislike ourselves? Are we always upset? Are we chronic complainers? It is highly possible that the answer is a mixture of yes and no vs one of those. But that is life right? Sometimes you just have a rough moment.. and that is ok, hear me say it again.. that is ok.
Now, your brain and chemicals in the body play a role in all of this but! don’t worry, I am not that into science so I won’t talk about cortisol and all that it does (you can look that up to tho!).. I will keep it simple, you gotta increase your positive self talk. Start to change some of those negative thoughts by replacing them with positive thoughts.. heck, I will even take neutral to start. Want an example? So, instead of saying, “This is impossible” try saying, “I don’t see how this is possible” (closer to neutral) or even better, “This isn’t possible.. YET!”. I try to remind myself that there is always a silver lining in things, a bright side.. even though the bright side may not be my desired bright side.. it is still bright.
What and who you are surrounded by also plays a factor. Again, I won’t go too deep here but it is a reason that meditation exists and helps calm the mind. It matters if what you are hearing all day is negative comments or positive, encouraging and maybe even loving corrections. This, my friend, is one of the top goals of D.A.Y Community, to give you and me! a place where we can have those positive, encouraging interactions. Yes, we will be focused on that positivity while moving a lot of times but D.A.Y Community will not be short of fun events as well. Join D.A.Y Community today and give yourself some positive thoughts to meditate on.
Remember to find a moment for you in the day....until next time.
